In preparation for our wedding day, their responsiveness and attention to detail was very much appreciated. They created a list of locations for wedding photos, with back-up plans in case of closures and weather. The grooms, wedding party, and guests all appreciated how organized, respectful, and easy-going the photographers were on the day of. They manage to make everybody feel comfortable while being directive and organized. The photos themselves turned out perfectly -- beyond our wildest expectations! First off — we had a classic COVID wedding, which meant rescheduling chaos. We first met Chris & Sam early on in our planning process back in 2019. They were the first vendor we secured after our venue because we loved their composition and editing style (#vibes), and from the very beginning they were incredibly friendly, easy to communicate with, so passionate about their work, and they seemed so excited to work closely with their clients to carry off an amazing wedding.

Over the next couple of years of planning, re-planning, re-scheduling and all the other nuttiness of COVID, Isle + Oak were a bright spot in the whole process. They were so helpful with our endless timeline and location questions, letting us run with our various preferences and quirks but offering their professional opinion to guide us toward ideas we might not have considered and would work out better (e.g. first look locations we hadn’t heard of that would be logistically easier but in an environment we liked). We had a TON of fun during our engagement session with them (pro tip: if you do a session like this, you will feel so much more relaxed being in front of the camera on your wedding day, and even more so because Sam & Chris are super chill).

On the day of our wedding Sam & Chris were the real MVPs. They really helped the entire morning go off fluidly and made sure we got from place to place, including suggesting a last minute weather-dependent location change that ended up giving us some incredibly diverse photos that we wouldn’t trade with our original location for the world. They have a talent for blending seamlessly into the background — we got candids from angles and times when I had no idea they were there — then stepping forward to herd or tweak or arrange the day for a better photo or smoother transition. They were fun and engaging with other vendors and our wedding party, and we had so many comments from our friends and family about how friendly and on-the-ball they were the entire day.

We got a huge (legit felt like a full gallery) sneak peek from the wedding literally days afterward, which was so nice because we got a chance to share those with family and on social media, then our full gallery came through a few months later and had so many more gems in it! They were able to capture the feeling of the day through an artistic lens, and we’ll treasure our photos for years to come.

Are you looking for a kind, inclusive photographer duo? Look no further! We first found Chris and Sam on instagram and fell in love with their moody and authentic style. We booked an engagement shoot on a whim while on vacation from the states. They both went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable in front of the camera.

We thought our wonderful experience with them ended after we bid goodbye to BC. After thinking for awhile, we figured we would ask if the duo would come to us to shoot our wedding in the states. 2 years of a pandemic and many emails later, we were able to pull it off and my gosh was it worth every penny.

The day of, Chris and Sam, everyone’s favorite “fake” couple were out getting detail shots, fluffing trains, wrangling groomsmen and even saved the day with a hairdryer. The rain started right after the indoor ceremony but they improvised and still provided amazing shots. They even agreed to go down some dirt roads in a Jeep to take some more adventurous shots.

Chris + Sam. It’s hard to find the words to describe just how special these two humans are, but I’m going to give it a shot. We hired them for our Wedding in September 2020 & also had our engagement photos with them the year before. From day 1 they have been an absolute dream to work with. We felt like we had two new friends after our first meet up over beers. They’re as professional as they are friendly. This made it so easy to run around outdoors taking photos with them. Their style really captures those special moments. Those little moments that are natural, filled with love & a bit of magic. It’s their attention to detail & how they make you feel at ease that really set them apart from everyone else. They were always so organized & quick to respond to any questions we had. We even got our sneak peak photos back ridiculously fast! We had the added bonus of working with them during COVID times & they never failed to be patient, kind, & helpful. Out of all of our vendors, Chris + Sam were on top of their game in terms of communication. They never left us hanging and always responded quickly with such great energy. They were also very flexible and accommodating when it came to schedule changes and/or issues with the weather. They always presented us with a few solutions to any problems that we encountered along the way.

At our reception, they were able to edit some photos from our elopement to show our guests. All everyone talked about for the following two weeks was how amazing our photos were. Honestly, they were our top vendor who went above and beyond for our engagement and wedding days. There was never any hesitation to lend a helping hand. At the end of our wedding, we cried saying our goodbyes because we felt like we had a connection and built a great friendship over the last year with these amazing humans. Luckily for us, they do maternity and family shoots as well, so you know who we will be looking for when that time comes around.

Chris & Sam were absolutely wonderful!!!! They are so fun and professional, we knew we found the perfect photographers after seeing all their work and meeting with them. The engagement photo session was fantastic we were so happy with the results and went towards our big day knowing we had nothing to worry about. Leading up to the wedding they made sure to know the little details of what specific shots we wanted and with whom. The day of we all had soooo much fun, you feel so comfortable with them and the photos turned out amazing!!!!!! I cried and cried, they were just so perfect! From the moment we met with Sam + Chris, we felt important. They listened to what we liked and used their experience to make our ideas perfect. I had wanted to write a review after our wedding, but we just received the sneak peeks of our engagement shoot and I am bursting with joy!

I had began researching wedding photographers before I booked my venue. With so much talent out there, I really wanted to find a photographer that had great skills and distinctive aesthetic. Isle + Oak was a stand out to me immediately and I loved that it was a duo team of best friends, Chris & Sam. We met up in Autumn of 2019 for a meet and greet and to ensure our vibes jived. Chris & Sam were lovely, down-to-earth and really knew the wedding industry, so I knew they were the one!!

We booked their photography and videography package, which is a partnership with their friends Grey House Visual. I think it's great to have partners they work with often and well with for great chemistry. We chose this package because the photos and videos will be cherished as a memory forever and allows my family and friends who won't be able to attend to feel included :)

We had originally booked out engagement shoot for March but because of COVID, they were flexible to help us postpone it to August 2020. The locations they shoot at are all beautiful, especially during golden hour and so my fiance and I wanted to have our photos taken at Lighthouse Park in West Vancouver. Since we don't drive, Chris & Sam were generous enough to drive us there and back! They are hardworking, funny and an absolute joy to work with. My fiance and I are both pretty self-conscious and were worried that we would look awkward during the shoot, but Chris & Sam's energy was positive and calming and everything just came so naturally! And wow, their work is just impeccable. Their eye for light and composition is exceptional, directions were easy to follow and we had so much fun on the shoot! Their turnaround time was so efficient as well as their communications. They are so caring and you really feel valued as a client. I feel like we've become friends for life! Now, our wedding is in a month or so and I already can't wait to see these guys again. Might be too early to say this, but I hope to have them shoot family photos for us in the future when we have a kid :)
